MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE (TICKER) — Brad Keselowski won his first career pole as a replacement for veteran Ted Musgrave in the O’Reilly 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park on Saturday.
Keselowski, who had just two starts this season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, posting a winning pole time of 119.771 in a Toyota Tundra. He replaced Musgrave behind the wheel when the 2005 Truck Series champion was suspended for one week.
The 51-year old Musgrave was suspended, fined $10,000 and docked 50 driver points for crashing Kelly Bires into the wall on lap 74 of the Milwaukee 200 last week. It is the first time in seven years Musgrave has missed a Craftsman race.
Joining Keselowski on the front row will be Ron Hornaday Jr., who tallied a speed of 118.718 in a Chevrolet Silverado.
Mike Skinner, the 1995 truck series champion, will start third in a Toyota while rookie Willie Allen will be next to him in a Chevy.
The race starts later on Saturday.
