DALLAS, United States - David Beckham was missing and so was any hint of defending but the Los Angeles Galaxy advanced to the Superliga tournament semi-finals here Tuesday with a 6-5 victory over FC Dallas.
The triumph gave the new Major League Soccer home of English superstar miedfielder Beckham the Group A title and a match August 14-15 against Pachuca, a 1-0 winner of Chivas of Guadalajara in a match played at Denver, Colorado.
Pachuca, a Mexican club that announced a working agreement with the MLS Colorado Rapids before the match, lost 2-1 to the Galaxy a week ago at Los Angeles in the first game Beckham missed because of a sore left ankle.
Beckham has now missed three Galaxy matches, all in the first-year Superliga event between US and Mexican clubs, and is uncertain for what would be his MLS debut on Sunday at Toronto.
No site or exact date was set for the Pachuca-Galaxy rematch, which is to fall during a Galaxy road swing to the East Coast that begins Sunday, goes to Washington on August 9, New England three days later and New York on August 18.
