A federal judge sentenced former University of Maryland basketball star Lonny Baxter to 60 days in prison on Friday for illegally shipping firearms, a ruling that cost Baxter his contract with a Spanish team. U.S. District Judge Peter Messitte based the sentence on Baxter’s history with firearms and his actions in the case.

FONTANA, Calif. — While Joe Gibbs Racing officials remained mum Friday on the anticipated switch from Chevrolet to Toyota, Kyle Busch was more than happy to talk about it.

LONDON (Ticker) — England coach Steve McClaren is convinced David Beckham’s latest injury has nothing to do with his punishing transatlantic travel schedule.

Beckham has been ruled out of next week’s Euro 2008 doubleheader with Israel and Russia after damaging knee ligaments in the Los Angeles Galaxy’s SuperLiga trophy final loss to Pachuca on Wednesday.
