CARSON, Calif. — Omar Cummings scored in the 90th minute to give theColorado Rapids a 2-1 victory over CD Chivas USA on Sunday in Major LeagueSoccer.
Ugo Ihemelu also had a second-half goal to help Colorado (9-12-8) remain inplayoff contention. The Rapids (9-12-8) need a victory over Real Salt Lake onSaturday and some help to get into the postseason.
Orlando Perez scored in the 78th minute for Chivas in their first home lossof the season.
Before the match, Chivas announced that forward Ante Razov would miss sixweeks or essentially the remainder of the season because of a sprained ligamentin his left knee. Razov is second on the club with 11 goals.
Colorado defender Brandon Prideaux was sent off in the 46th minute when heknocked Chivas forward Maykel Galindo down from behind on a breakaway.
The Rapids, though, capitalized despite playing with 10 men. Ihemelu scoredhis first goal of the season in the 64th minute when he buried a shot into theback of the net from close range.
Chivas (15-6-8) eventually evened the score. In the 78th minute, Perezscored on a 12-yard shot. The goal was Perez’s third of his eight-year career.
Colorado won the match in the 90th minute when Conor Casey found Cummings onthe far post on a breakaway. Cummings effortlessly put the shot into the back ofthe net.
