GLENDALE, Ariz. — Kirk Maltby scored a pair of second-period goals and theDetroit Red Wings rallied to beat the Phoenix Coyotes 5-2 on Saturday night.

Henrik Zetterberg had a goal and an assist and Jiri Hudler and Brett Lebdaalso scored for the Red Wings, who have won three of their last four.

Zetterberg leads the NHL with 17 points and has at least one point in eachof Detroit’s first nine games, a career-best scoring streak.

Steven Reinprecht and Derek Morris scored for the Coyotes, who lost allthree games of their abbreviated homestand. Phoenix has lost five of six sinceopening the season with a 3-2 home win over St. Louis.

Maltby broke a 2-2 tie with 25.5 seconds left in the second when heone-timed a pass from Zettenberg from the right faceoff circle over MikaelTellqvist’s extended glove.

Detroit made it 4-2 with 15:03 to go when Tellqvist went behind the net toleave the puck for defenseman Ed Jovanovski. Matt Ellis beat Jovanovski to thepuck and passed it out front to Lebda for the shot into the vacated net.

Zetterberg made it 5-2 with 5:22 remaining on a rebound of a shot by TomasHolmstrom.

Maltby also had scored at 11:26 of the second period, redirecting ChrisChelios’ blast from the right point past Tellqvist to tie the game 2-2.

Hudler gave the Red Wings a 1-0 lead 4:37 into the game, tapping a reboundinto the net from the left edge of the crease as two other Detroit playerscrashed the net.

The Coyotes evened the score when Peter Mueller stole the puck from PavelDatsyuk just outside the Red Wings zone and hit Reinprecht in stride between thecircles for the goal at 12:45 of the first period.

Morris made it 2-1 at 17:15 of the period on a blast from the high slot.
